I have to admit that I bought this more for the bottle than the fragrance. First it was old as far as fragrances go. This particular bottle is from the 1960's. As many people know it is risky to purchase an old fragrance especially if you don't smell it before you buy it.
There was something of a built in allure to this one for even before first sniff. It was a fragrance that carried the name of Olga Tschechowa. One of only four fragrances to carry that house's name. It's a name steeped in classic movie history and a name associated with fresh and sometimes mysterious beauty.
Is it possible for an Eau de Toilette authored by the olfactory sensibilities of a mysteriously beautiful silent screen actress to live up to any kind of promise one might have before unscrewing the golden fluer de lis embossed cap? The odds are not very good but sometimes those odds work out as did this gem of fragrance.
Whoever owned this bottle before must have take good care of it. Or it must hae be stored away and hidden in a dark box for ages. Because the fragrance that tickled my nose was as delightfully surprising and refreshing as a Chopin's Berceuse Op.57 in D Flat.
I was amazed that some of the Bimbi citrus freshness was still soulful and bodacious. It was bright yet dirty and age had definitely treated it well. It was smoothed and mellowed in a way that only age can accomplish.
